Marching, sprinting and lunging with Pride

On Saturday 2 July, 70 London Frontrunners came together for the 2022 Pride in London parade.

This year’s Pride event was particularly special for several reasons.

It was the first Pride march in three years, the previous two having been cancelled because of Covid.

This year also marked 50 years since the first march in the UK took place in 1972.

After gathering in Grosvenor Square to hand out wristbands and apply glitter to faces, we headed to our start position on Park Lane.

Once the parade was underway, it was clear London was out in force to cheer us along the route.

While we marched along Piccadilly, we took every opportunity to throw in some sprints and running drills – high knees and walking lunges – to keep the crowds entertained.

All too soon the parade was over, and it was time to brave the Soho crowds and head to the Crown & Two Chairmen pub for drinks.

Pride is always an important social event for the club. And it was wonderful to see so many members – old and new – come together to celebrate this year.
