Tuesday
Thursday
Who are these sessions intended for?
These sessions are intended for runners who are already fit and who are looking to improve their running. These track sessions can help push you that extra bit.
The sessions will be physically demanding – you don’t need to be fast, but you do need to be able to run for an hour to get the most from the sessions. If you have never done a structured coaching session before, you are advised to try a Wednesday night session before attending. All our sessions are mixed ability, but our Thursday track session has dedicated beginner introductions to track; speak to our coaches.
What sorts of exercises will it involve?
Warm ups, drills, intervals, and a cool down. The session will change from week to week – check the Coaching Plan for the details for each session.
Where do we meet?
Tuesday: Mile End Stadium and Track on B140 Rhodeswell Road (corner of Copperfield Road). The club meet at the far corner of the track at the throwing cage (What3Words: ///army.remind.achieving)
Thursday: Battersea Millenium Arena, Carriage Dr E, London SW11 4NJ. We meet on the grey paved area inside the track, before you get to tennis court 14 (to your left when you come onto the track) (What3Words: ///expand.tunnel.flap).
Please take care when crossing the track. In bad weather we will wait inside the sports centre by the cafe, or on the covered terrace next to this.
We don’t have exclusive use of the tracks, so you will need to be mindful of other runners as well as any activity going on in the centre of the track which may include javelin and hammer throwing!
How much will it cost?
Entry to Mile End track is £5.05 payable via the Be Well app or on the door.
Battersea Millennium Arena cost of entry is £6. Pay on the door or you can book beforehand on the enable leisure centre website.
Please note that the prices for both track nights are set and charged by the venues, not the Club. The prices listed above may change at the centres without notice from the Club.
Are there changing facilities?
There are toilets, changing rooms, showers and lockers at each of the venues. The lockers at Mile End require a 20p piece. The lockers at Battersea require an old pound coin or a reusable token (e.g. shopping trolley token). Tokens are available to buy at the centre reception.
It is my first time at track, what do I need to know?
Please let the coach know on arrival if it is your first track session. The coach will give an intro to track etiquette as needed however, you are recommended to look up basic track etiquette in advance. Battersea track has signs describing etiquette for new runners to read. It is recommended you bring a bottle of water/isotonic drink to the sessions.
