Thursday run info Sept 2021

If you arrive ready changed then meet at The Freeman Family Fountain, near Cumberland Gate, for around 1905-1910.

Summer Route: Large loop of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens – see map (or feel free to create your own route)

Winter Route: The run starts on the pavement parallel to the North Carriage Drive, as this section is always illuminated.

At Victoria Gate, carefully cross over and run on the right-hand side of the road, along the West Carriage Drive before crossing over to the left-hand side of the West Carriage Drive at the Serpentine North Gallery,  and over the Serpentine Bridge.

Turn to the left at the corner before the Will To Win Hyde Park Sports Centre, by the illuminated tennis courts, and continue down the path, next to and on the left of the cycle lane. Turn left by the marble urn erected in memory of Queen Caroline, on the path closest to the Serpentine Waterfall, and we run around the Serpentine, keeping it on our left. This gets you back over the Serpentine Bridge, then turn again to the left before the corner of the tennis courts and then carry on down the same path.

Instead of turning to the left for a second lap around the Serpentine, this time you just carry on ahead, in a direct line towards Hyde Park Corner, keeping the Rose Garden to the left-hand side. At Hyde Park Corner, turn left by the statue of Achilles, towards Marble Arch and after reaching Marble Arch then again to the left, finishing at the Freeman Family Drinking Fountain. Or once again create your own route; for a shorter option omit the Serpentine Loop.

Risk Assessment

As part of the Club’s ongoing efforts to ensure and maintain the health and safety of Club members, a risk assessment of the new run has been carried out.

This risk assessment and the accompanying map highlight all of the hazards and potential hazards on the route including points where runners need to cross the road, where cars might come in and out of side roads, blind spots and narrows pavements. All runners should familiarise themselves with the risk assessment and map before embarking on the run.
